Grant Application & Eligibility

Unfortunately, applications cannot be edited once submitted. However, there’s no need to worry — your preferred dates are not decisive in the selection process. The exact period of your stay will later be fine-tuned together with the selected participants.

Yes — the program is open to all nationalities. If you are unsure whether you need a visa to visit one of the participating countries, please check the official immigration websites:

Norway: Persons who do not need a visa to visit Norway – UDI.no
Faroe Islands: Passport & Visa to the Faroe Islands – visitfaroeislands.no
Iceland: Check if you need a visa to travel to Iceland – island.is

Yes. You can include your partner (and children, if relevant) directly in your application form. Please submit one shared application for your group. You will be admitted together.

Yes — if you wish to bring a friend within the grant program, please include them in your application.
Outside the grant, friends are warmly welcome to join on their own initiative, by paying for accommodation and coworking space separately.

Our application form is open only during specific periods announced on our website and social media channels. When the application period has ended, the form closes and new applications can no longer be submitted. There is no alternative way to apply once the deadline has passed.

To be among the first to know when the next round opens, follow Arctic Digital Nomads on social media and subscribe to our newsletter. We’d love to hear from you next time!

If the link doesn’t open and the application period is still active, it may be caused by browser settings, a VPN connection, or regional restrictions on your network.

You can try the following:
– Open the link in a different browser (Chrome or Safari usually works best).
– Disable any active VPN or ad-blocker.
– Try accessing the link from another device, internet connection, or even a friend’s computer.

We’re sorry you missed this round — once the deadline has passed, it’s no longer possible to submit an application.

But there will be more opportunities ahead! The best way to stay informed is to follow Arctic Digital Nomads on social media and subscribe to our newsletter. That’s where we announce new rounds, updates from our Arctic communities, and upcoming projects you can be part of.

Yes — absolutely! The grant is just the ‘free’ way to join our community. 🙂
Many digital nomads, freelancers and small teams come to stay, work and connect in our Arctic coworking spaces without a grant. You can rent accommodation and a workspace independently at any time of the year.

Visit our Locations page to learn more about the different villages and coworking hubs.

We aim to select a diverse group of digital professionals whose skills and lifestyles can naturally blend into small Arctic communities — from designers and developers to writers, researchers, and families. Above all, we’re looking for people who see the Arctic as a place worth cherishing and protecting. For rural areas facing depopulation, even temporary residents who fall in love with the region can make a lasting difference.

We’re looking for people who work remotely, are independent yet community-minded, and who want to experience life in small Arctic villages. Specific technical skills aren’t required — what matters is your ability to contribute positively to the local community and coworking group.

We receive many applications and select people who complement each other and enrich local life. Not being chosen doesn’t mean you lack skills.

If you don’t hear from us, it unfortunately means you weren’t selected this time. For those who were selected, we’ll also follow up by phone if we don’t receive a reply.

Travel, Visa & Logistics

Unfortunately, our team is too small, this year, to provide individual visa assistance.

The grant covers accommodation, electricity, water, coworking space, and a few group activities (to be confirmed).
Travel to and from the destination, as well as food and personal expenses, are not included.

Expect a truly Arctic experience — from crisp, snowy winters to bright and blooming spring days. Warm clothing, thermal layers and snow boots are recommended.

Accommodation & Daily Life

You can see examples of available housing on the websites of the three host locations. Options range from apartments and traditional cabins (hytter) to small houses. We match each participant or family with a suitable private home — always with a private kitchen and bathroom.

Life in the villages is peaceful and close to nature, with a friendly local community and a quiet coworking space for focused work.
Most digital nomads follow normal working hours, often sharing lunch breaks and enjoying outdoor or cultural activities in the evenings and weekends.
Occasionally, small group activities will be organised — from local traditions to guided nature experiences.

Nearby grocery shops are open year-round and provide everything you need.
Due to the mountain landscape, distances can feel longer than they look — having access to a car can be helpful for shopping and exploring the area.

Families, Children & Pets

Absolutely — families are very welcome in the program. We’re delighted to see applicants who wish to experience local life together with their children.

Children cannot be formally enrolled in the local school, but in some cases they may take part in school life and community activities. While we cannot guarantee this, we do our best to involve all family members — including children — in the local experience.

Accommodation that allows pets can be arranged. Please mention this clearly in your application so we can take it into account.
